Onion is one of the primary crops in Jamaica and it has benefited tremendously from Farm Up Jamaica’s initiative to grow as much of the product locally as possible. With the aim of full local self sufficiency in sight, Farm Up Jamaica has embarked on a program to plant 100 acres of onions in Goshen, St. Elizabeth.
The target is to have have one square of land produce at least 50lbs of onion, which would give a per acreage production of just over 21,000 lbs.
Be a part of this initiative by sponsoring a single square of land to produce the target 50lbs or sponsor multiple squares and help reach the goal sooner. The cost to sponsor a single square is only $25 USD.
LuminAID is an inflatable solar powered light that provides several hours of light once charged by sunlight.
The device is rugged and able to withstand the harshest conditions in regions void of electricity.
These features and its low cost (around $3,000 Jamaican Dollars) make LuminAID a very appealing product for developing countries and disaster hit areas.
You can buy and send a LuminAID to a farmer in Jamaica or you can purchase one for yourself, useful in harsh weather in the event of power outages.
