Get Back To Our Roots. Help Grow Organic Onions In New Forest
Over 90% of the onions consumed locally in Jamaica are imported from other countries. Onions represent a staple food in every Jamaican home and in almost every Jamaican dish. We’ve therefore chosen organic onions as our first project. We must grow organic onions locally on a large scale to begin to close the gap on importation. Growing them organically will put us on track to promoting a healthier Jamaica, promote “green” farming, combat climate change and help Jamaica compete in a growing market trend.
For our pilot ogranic onion project, we are growing five acres of onions in New Forest, Manchester. We have raised enough funds to complete land clearance, composting, seeding and almost the entire farm is irrigated. We need your help to complete the project and most importantly to raise sufficient funds to build a solar-powered, temperature controlled drying and storage facility. Please donate to help.
